A Bill of Rights for Northern Ireland – IT’S IN YOUR HANDS

The government is holding a public consultation on a potential Bill of Rights for Northern Ireland. The consultation gives each of us the chance to have our say on what rights we would like to see included in a Northern Ireland Bill of Rights.

A Bill of Rights will put people first! It will guarantee better protection under the law for everyone in Northern Ireland and will make the government accountable for any failure to protect your rights.

We don’t have a Bill of Rights here! Under the Agreement, we should have one. A Bill of Rights would help build a better future for everyone by setting out the rights we want to respect and protect for one another.

It is important the government listen to what the people of Northern Ireland want and we secure a Bill of Rights which:

■ Protects everyone

■ Protects important rights like health, housing and education

■ Will be effective and enforceable
